Top 5 Labor & Delivery Hospital Bag Essentials

As a seasoned mom of three, having experienced both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, here's my go-to list of must-haves for your upcoming labor and delivery journey.

Number 1: The baby shusher takes the top spot for me! Having used it with my twins, this genius device saved me from doing all the shushing myself. It's a game-changer, especially for that nerve-wracking first car ride home. Just turn it on, and let the magic happen. I relied on this gem all the way through the first year. Check it out here.

Number 2:

Noise control is crucial in the hospital environment. Whether it's a Hatch sound machine or Apple AirPods, having something to drown out unexpected noises during labor is a must. Check it out on amazon here.

Number 3: Claiming the third spot is a comfy postpartum pajama set or robe. After labor, you'll want to freshen up and transition out of the hospital gown. Opt for postpartum-friendly robes or button-up pajama sets for easy nursing and pumping sessions.

Number 4:

A compression belt takes the fourth spot on my list. While hospitals provide one post-C-section, I found it beneficial for extra support even after a vaginal delivery. It's a handy item for added comfort around your midsection.

Number 5: Last but not least, bring something that brings you comfort – whether it's a pillow, blanket, makeup, or essential oils. Having a personal item can be a source of solace during challenging moments in labor and postpartum. I love using an eye sleep mask, so that is something that I brought with me!

And of course, don't forget your phone charger– bonus points if it has a long cord… & of course a going home outfit for baby! While everything you and your baby need will be provided by the hospital, these personal items can make your experience more comfortable and familiar. Safe and happy delivery!
